FARGO, N.D. – Two days after dropping seven total games in a 9-0 victory over a MIAC opponent, the Carleton College women’s tennis team repeated that performance in defeating Concordia College. The Knights improved to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in MIAC play.
Rookies Mikayla Becich (Bradfordwoods, Pa./North Allegheny) and Grace Davis (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) notched an 8-2 victory at first doubles, with Joyce Yu (Fy./Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei American School) and Felicity Flesher (Jr./Oxford, Miss./Oxford) doing the same at the third spot. Juniors Molly Hemes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and Katherine Greenberg (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) continued their fine play with an 8-1 triumph at the middle slot.
Once play moved to singles, the Knights talent and depth took care of business. Anne Lombardi (Jr./Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), Julia Krumholz (Fy./Hingham, Mass./Hingham), Hemes, Becich, and Davis each won in straight sets…without dropping a game. Claire Spencer (Fy./Newport News, Va./Menchville) completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Carleton will host Macalester College on Friday, Feb. 15. That 6:30 p.m. match will be held at LifeTime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.
