Ricks was named MIAC Track and Field Coach of the Year in 1995 after guiding Carleton to a second-place conference finish, and is a three-time MIAC Coach of the Year in cross country, leading the Knights to the 2004 and 2005 team conference titles. She is also involved in national competition-she served as the U.S. National Women’s Heptathlon Coach in 1996.
As a student-athlete, Ricks was a cross country and track and field standout and All-American performer at MSU-Mankato. In honor of her accomplishments, Ricks’ alma mater inducted her into its Hall of Fame and named her the fifth-greatest female athlete to attend the school in the past century.
She resides in Northfield with husband, Dave, the head men's cross country and track and field coach at Carleton, and their daughter, Karissa (5).
