Lunch with TED and Lynda

Wed, October 12, 2016 • 12:00pm - 1:00pm (1h) • Weitz 027

TED talks are all about 'ideas worth spreading.'   At TED, they 'believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.'  The annual TED conferences invite the most inspired thinkers and challenge them to give the talk of their lives (in 5-15 minutes).  You could think of them as concentrated Convocations.

Lynda.com produces software training tutorials and documentaries of creative individuals.  They 'believe that education is power, knowledge creates opportunity, that technology should be accessible to everyone, and that comprehensive, straightforward training can make a world of difference.'

Online talks and tutorials can be a valuable way of expanding awareness and knowledge into diverse and divergent areas, including those affecting our work at the College.  Come discover how and why.    On Wednesdays at noon, we'll highlight TED Talks and Lynda courses, along with other online-learning services.  We'll demonstrate how to navigate these sites and show how to create playlists for yourself or others.

The format is casual.  We'll start about noon, but arriving late is fine.  The place is Weitz 027, home of Academic Technology.  Feel free to bring your lunch.
