Carleton College Summer Teaching Institute
June 22 - 25, 2010
Dear Teachers,
Welcome to the Carleton College Summer Teaching Institute. The Institute is designed for teachers of existing or proposed Advanced Placement Program*, enriched, or accelerated classes for students in grades 9 through 12 who are capable of college-level work. Since 1980 more than 4,000 teachers from over 550 schools nationwide have attended these week-long workshops.
Carleton faculty members who are experts in their field are paired with experienced AP* high school teachers in some of our courses. Since a one-week workshop cannot cover all the materials that are taught in a year-long AP* or similar course, our workshops instead provides an in-depth look at selected topics.
For the previous two years, we have successfully run a four-day institutes. We have decided to stay with this format for 2010 and are excited for the new courses we are offering.

Credit and Accreditation
Each workshop carries three graduate quarter credits, which are equivalent to two semester credits. However, we offer no graduate degree. Acceptability of these credits in a degree program at another institution is a matter for that institution to decide. Carleton is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Participants who take the course for credit must attend classes for the entire week and complete a final project.
