Application & Payment Information

Costs:

The comprehensive fee of $2,595 includes:

  • Tuition
  • All books and class supplies
  • Six Carleton credit hours (equivalent to three semester hours)
  • Room and board (all meals)
  • Activities and excursions
  • T-shirt
  • Flash Drive

A $500 deposit is due with the application or upon acceptance into the program for scholarship applicants. The remaining balance of $2,095 is due on May 31, 2012.  If you are not accepted into the program, the $500 will be returned to you.  For accepted students, $250 is non-refundable.  Please see the cancellation policy for further details.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Applications are available online.  Once you have completed the application online, you will have to send your transcript (official or unofficial) to our office (if you did not attach it to your application).  Regular Registration Deadline is April 23, 2012.  You can send that to our office in one of three ways:

**Due to student visa requirements, we are not able to accept international students unless they have a U.S. passport.


Financial Assistance:

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available to students applying to the Summer Writing Program. Based on academic merit, financial obligations and college potential, scholarships may apply to overall tuition, travel, room, and board expenses.  Scholarships are made possible in part by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.  Learn more about the scholarship process.


Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be made in writing and sent to swp@carleton.edu.

Students who cancel on or before May 8 will receive a refund of all fees paid except $250 of the nonrefundable deposit.

Cancellations received between May 9 and June 1 will be charged $500. Cancellations received between June 2 and June 15 will be charged $1,250.  Any cancellations received after June 15, or any withdrawal by a student during the program, will result in forfeiture of all fees paid.
