Alternatives to Violence (AVP) is an internationally recognized program. AVP non-violence training uses experiential activities and dialogue to engage participants in actively addressing the problems of violence in their own lives and in the world. Friends for a Non-Violent World conducts AVP training locally in the Faribault State Correctional Facility, in the Hennepin County jail, and in monthly community workshops in the twin cities area. AVP volunteers join inmates/community members as participants and as workshop facilitators. Volunteers can participate in full weekend workshops, one-day workshops, and weekly support groups.
