The Courage to Write

Faribault High School
Weekly Commitment

Program Directors:
Shantrice King '13, kingsh

The Courage to Write is a writing group and magazine project for women of color at the Faribault High School. The program runs for eight weeks each term.  Sessions are conducted twice a week from 3:30-4:45pm.  The lesson plans are designed to ensure that the girls are learning how to write in steps, as well as learning how to write in different styles. The program is run by 5-7 student volunteers from Carleton.  The term has an overall theme which the end product (the magazine) will focus on.  When the magazine arrives, they are distributed between Carleton College and Faribault High School. Participants recieve their copy first.
