For Carleton Student Tutors

ACT's One-on-one Volunteer Tutoring Program

About our program: The ACT Volunteer Tutoring Program is a free tutoring program that matches Carleton student volunteers with Northfield students of all ages in need of one-on-one academic assistance in any subject. Approved tutors sign up for specific tutoring requests depending on their academic interests and availability, and will meet with students for about one hour, once a week in a public location. Tutoring sessions are individualized to the student’s needs and may include review of concepts learned in school, preparation for upcoming tests, help with homework, etc. For more information, see the attached PDF at right. Interested Carleton tutors should fill out the tutor signup form below.

Update: Tutors are now able to sign up for specific opportunities that interest them and work with their schedule. Please contact Danny Ulman or Rachel Clark if you encounter any problems or have questions about this new system.

 How to become a tutor:

     1. Fill out the tutor profile form. After one of the student coordinators approves your response, you will be added to the list of students who have access to the current tutoring requests (listed below).

     2. After you are granted permission, sign up for specific tutoring opportunities that interest you here. Contact information will be sent to you by the student coordinators after you sign up, at which point you are responsible for directly contacting the student and/or their adult contact to arrange a time and place to meet.

     3. Be sure to check out the awesome resources we have to help you become an effective tutor!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Rachel Clark (clarkr) or Danny Ulman (ulmand).
