2009 Bird Checklist Cover

Just in time for spring migration, we are happy to provide a checklist for the birds of the Carleton College Arboretum.  Small enough to stick in your pocket, or as a bookmark in your field guide, the checklist includes all species known from the Arboretum, whether common or unusual.  Keep track of your sightings, and let us know if you see something that is not on our list!

Records have been kept of bird sightings in the Arboretum for many years.  We have writen documentation from about 20 observers that span the last 30 years.  While most of our bird species are fairly common, occassionaly something unusal is spotted like the Black-backed Woodpecker last November, or the Hooded Warber seen in 1992!  More information is available on the Arboretum Web site with specific locations for some of the rarieties.  Report your findings to the Arboreutm at 222-4543, or leave a comment on our comment page.
