How to Apply for a Writing Consultant Position for 08-09

Application deadline: 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 2

Please send or deliver the following application materials to Robbie Groth, Program Assistant, Academic Support Center, 202 Scoville:

  • Application for Writing Consultant Position Form See "related documents" on this page.
  • Cover letter  Before you begin, please read "Interested in Applying?" (see "related documents" on this page).  We recommend that applicants consult the Career Center's website on writing cover letters.
  • Resume We recommend that you visit the Career Center's website on resumes. Career Assistants are also available to help you draft and refine your application materials. Their winter term office hours are: Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. in the Career Center; and Sunday, 8-10 p.m. in Gould Library, room 328. 
  • A sample of your academic writing at Carleton, with or without the professor's comments.
  • Endorsement from a faculty member who is familiar with your writing skills and/or your ability to work effectively with peers on their writing Please ask the faculty member to send a brief email, in which s/he outlines in two or three sentences why s/he thinks you would make a good writing consultant, to Kathy Evertz, Director, Academic Support Center, at kevertz@carleton.edu.

If you are studying off campus spring term, submit your application materials by Friday, February 29, at 3:30 p.m., to Robbie Groth in Scoville 202. We will interview early applicants before the end of winter term.
