Inserting Labels

Click here to view the accompanying video tutorial for this topic.

Labels are simple text that can be topic headings or as long as a few paragraphs. Each label appears in the Moodle weekly schedule on the main page. They are not automatically indented, they are usually in plain text, and they are most often used to split the week into class dates. However, they can be used to group a collection of links in other ways. For example, you might group a certain collection of links by topic, rather than the date that they were introduced to the class.

Creating Labels

To create a label, turn editing on, and then click on the "Add a Resource..." menu and choose "Insert a Label" in the week that you want to add the label in. In the text editor on the page that shows up, type the text that you want to appear on the label, formatting as you go. Generally, it's probably a bad idea to do anything with formatting except make the text bold or possibly a different color.

Labels

When you are done, click "Save changes and display." The label will appear at the bottom of the list of things that are already in that week, but you can move it around by clicking on the symbol of the two arrows next to it (one points up, the other down).

Editing Labels

To edit the label, click on the symbol of the pad of paper with a pen across it, next to the label. To delete the label altogether, click on the red X. And to hide the label, for whatever reason, click on the eye. To unhide it later, click on the eye again.
