Fiona MacNeill
Academic and Artistic Background
Prior to becoming an Academic Technologist at Carleton, Fiona worked at The Soap Factory art gallery in Minneapolis for three years, providing technical assistance to artists and managing the volunteer program (120 dedicated volunteers). Fiona is a practicing Performance and New Media artist and has exhibited her work in the United States and Europe. Her practice also encompasses curatorial work as the founder and lead curator of Performance and New Media event, Artery 24 (now entitled Artery). Fiona has freelanced for commercial and non-profit clients, creating a variety of materials including: websites, catalogs, print, video and audio.
Tools and Further Experience
- 7 years experience working in the arts and with creative technologies.
- Specialist tools: fully versed in the entire Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, Logic Studio, Final Cut Pro, Sibelius, Finale, SmartMusic, Keynote, Danceforms and WordPress.
- Areas of expertise: visualization, illustration, blogging, educational portfolios, graphic design, mobile computing, new media installation, creative and new media technologies, 3D modeling, digital asset management (DAM) and coordination of large scale creative projects/endeavors.
- Has completed research in the following areas: sports video analysis, WordPress, iDevice applications, creative presentation technologies.
- Has presented at an international design conference on design policy.
- Holds a BA(hons) Fine Art from Kent Institute of Art and Design, Canterbury, England (now University for the Creative Arts).
- Has completed internship positions at The Soap Factory and at the Wynd Theater in Melrose, Scotland.
