The Reunion hub for Career Center activity is the bright red tent adjacent to Sayles-Hill. We hope all alums and friends will visit our tent in the coming years so we can help them identify their career volunteer interests and suggest what their initial volunteer role might be.
Those who can’t wait for Reunion to sign up can contact Brent “Rex” Nystrom ’92 in the Career Center at 507-222-4298.
Why We're at Reunion
Carleton Reunions are now legendary for large attendance, high energy and the amount of support that alumni volunteers contribute to the success of these annual events. Until June 2008, the Carleton Career Center had not thought to take advantage of this success to connect with alumni back on campus. But because the Career Center adopted a new operating model a year ago, one that relies heavily upon alumni and parent volunteers for help, there is no doubt that the Center will have a presence at every Reunion in the future.
Over 500 alums and friends responded positively to a call for volunteers at reunion last summer and the goal for Reunion 2009 is to gather that many or more. With a full academic year under our belts and a more expansive slate of viable programs available for alums to volunteer with, we believe we have attractive choices for all interested alums.
Help Support the Career Center Goals
The #1 goal for the Career Center is (with apologies to ee cummings)
- to help as many students (and recent grads) as possible
- to be in as many ‘rooms’ as they can
- talking with as many friends (old and new) of Carleton as possible
- at as many different intervals, and
- in as many fields/disciplines as possible
- for varying lengths of time (hours, days, weeks, months)
- on-and off-campus
- around and beyond their academic experiences
- on-and off-campus
- for varying lengths of time (hours, days, weeks, months)
- in as many fields/disciplines as possible
- at as many different intervals, and
- talking with as many friends (old and new) of Carleton as possible
- to be in as many ‘rooms’ as they can
To reach this goal we need the generous participation of alumni, parents and friends in our outlined programs. We look forward to having many conversations at reunion, and otherwise, around the best fit for you. Thank you for being a part of the solution.
