About UIA:
Ulland Investment Advisors manages investment portfolios for individuals, pension/profit sharing plans, endowments, and other small institutions. We focus our equity research on growing companies in the energy, technology, financial, and healthcare sectors. Our staff of 4 is made up entirely of Carleton alums. We offer 2 internship positions per term (subject to change).
Job Description:
Our interns work closely with research and portfolio management staff to accomplish a wide range of tasks including: equity research projects, portfolio upkeep, client communication, and some clerical work. Interns gain valuable insight into the investment management industry, develop analytical skills, and learn equity valuation methods, while building a network of professional contacts. Many of our interns have moved on to internships and full-time positions at Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, and Deutsche Bank, among others.
Internships are paid ($10.00/hr) and an additional stipend is available for transportation.
Required Skills and Other Qualifications:
Internships are open to rising juniors and seniors. Economics majors are preferred, however, applicants of all majors will be considered.
Successful applicants will have a positive attitude, demonstrated strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as a keen attention to detail. Professional communication skills are also required for interaction with firm clients. Basic knowledge of equity securities and financial markets is required, though we do not expect our interns to be experts. Applicants with experience managing or researching investments in any capacity are preferred (through prior internships in financial industry, personal/family brokerage account management, Carleton investment clubs, etc.).
