- Explore and investigate possible majors and career options.
- Take responsibility for your life/career planning.
- Learn about organizations, functional areas, and sectors of the economy in which you may be interested.
Recommended Activities
- Attend a majors decision-making workshop. You will learn how to research your top major choices, resources for gathering information and what employers and graduate schools thing is/is not important about majors.
- Talk with your advisor and other faculty members about majors and career options.
- Consider a term abroad or other off-campus experience.
- Read about several different career/life options in the Career Center resource library or online.
- List your short-term goals.
- Attend a resume workshop and write a first draft for your summer job.
- Explore our internship database. Internships and real world experience are essential in today's employment market.
- Apply early (winter break) for summer jobs or internships.
- Attend career talks and panels by alumni.
- Seek additional training in accounting or computer skills (spreadsheet and graphics).
