Where To Find Internships
Here are some places to find internships and other forms of temporary employment for the summer (or during winter break or a term off, etc.).
- Career Center Bulletin - We post some of the most interesting, current, unusual, and alum-referred internships in this bi-weekly publication. Check the Career Center Blog for the newest edition.
- Internship Database - Our searchable Internship Database has thousands of internships posted by 28 liberal arts colleges, just like Carleton. Use this link to find other internship resources and sites, too!
- Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting - Carleton has secured, through Bill Buffett ’55, admission for up to 15 students to attend the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting on Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Omaha, Nebraska. This is an opportunity to be part of a great event! Check this link for application details.
- The M. Leith Shackel '29 Internship Endowment Fund - The fund provides stipends for first year, sophomore, and junior students who pursue unpaid or low-pay summer internships.
- Carleton's Social Justice Internships - Internships provide financial support to students pursuing unpaid or low-paying summer internships or training programs in not-for-profit or other organizations promoting social justice.
- Initiative for Service Internships in International Development - This initiative is intended to financially support internships for Carleton students who perform volunteer service in the areas of international community development, including business cooperatives, public wellness and treatment, literacy and education, and other public services in developing countries.
- Richard T. Newman Family Fund for Language Study Internships Abroad - This fund is intended to support and encourage Carleton students to pursue internships in foreign countries that can lead to career opportunities in the field of foreign languages. The primary language used in the internship shall be one of the languages offered at Carleton: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.
- Mayo Innovation Scholars Program - This program offers an opportunity for selected undergraduate science and business students along with MBA student leaders to research selected projects submitted by Mayo Clinic professionals through the Mayo Ventures and Licensing activity.
- Carleton Project 60: Developing Civic Leaders Program - This new opportunity was conceived and implemented by the community service panel held at the Class of 1960s 45th Reunion in June of 2005. They have identified nonprofit paid summer internships in their communities and will act as mentors to those students chosen for the positions.
- Carleton Scholars Program - Designed for Carleton students with the ultimate goal of equipping them with the tools and skills necessary for the competitive internship and full-time job search process in the investment banking industry.
- College Board of Business Consultants - This program places selected students from Carleton and St. Olaf with area businesses. Students work with the businesses on finite projects, such as business plans, marketing research, and web design.
- Internships - USA - Find internships with more than 3,000 organizations for college and law students. One of the largest internship sites on the web with over 100,000 student visits each month.
- DoorsofOpportunity.org - A website created by a recent graduate of Occidental College featuring a resource guide of summer opportunities for minority undergraduate students.
- Spotlight on Careers - This site provides detailed information and links for job areas that often interest liberal arts students. Search through pages covering the Environment, Film, Investment Banking, Science, and more!
- Global Internship Services - Offers custom-designed internship programs in Australia.
- Goinglobal.com - This comprehensive website has international, country-specific career information on 23 countries through their team of in-country researchers, including over 100 links to international internships.
- LandIt! - Visit one centralized and online location to view job and internship postings from hundreds of employers, courtesty of the Minnesota College & University Career Services Association (MCUCSA)
- InternAbroad.com - This site is the source for international internships, paid and volunteer, academic and non-academic, as well as college credit practical training programs around the world. Search by country or interest area. Also a good site for embassy information.
