Application Deadlines and Requirements:

  • Submit all application materials (listed below) via The Tunnel: apps.carleton.edu/campus/career by no later than Friday, October 3 at 5:00 pm

Information: Students will be selected based on the strength of their application materials (see below), and on the overall balance of trip participants’ interests and backgrounds. It is not required that you plan to pursue a career in a particular area—only that you are presently interested in the area that you choose.

Your application must include the following:

Cover Sheet that includes:

  • Your full name, date of birth, and social security number (needed for security clearances)
  • Class year
  • Major (if declared)
  • Which scholars program you are applying to (Public Policy, Creative Arts, or Business)
  • Names and contacts of two references (one must be a professor; note that no letters are needed - just names and contact information)

A Letter of Interest (no more than two pages) that includes:

  • Why you are enthusiastic about going on this trip
  • What you hope to learn from participating in this program
  • Analyze one of the organizations we will be visiting and provide 4 - 6 burning questions you have for that organization. The analysis questions should reflect an understanding of the organization, professional and intellectual curiosity, and ability to synthesize information. Note that you will receive a full itinerary of organizations for each trip at the information session on Wednesday, September 24. If you were unable to attend the information session, please request an itinerary via email to Jessica Mueller at jmueller@carleton.edu
  • Financial Assistance: If you are applying for transportation funding for any of these trips, please include your request at the bottom of your letter of interest (this does not impact your application or acceptance; it merely helps us plan for the necessary funds).
