Volunteer Options

If you are interested in doing some volunteer work, there are some very good options available. Browse through the links below to find a position or organization that's right for you.

  • Carleton's Internship Database - Many of the internships available are offered by non-profit organizations.
  • Goodworks - This "Guide To Social Change" offers a state-by-state job listing for non-profit organizations
  • ideaLIST - This resource is geared toward people interested in non-profits in any capacity. Resources on this site include a directory of over 10,000 non-profit organizations worldwide, a guide to volunteer and intern opportunities, and a listing of jobs available.

The Huge Programs - Change On A Large Scale

These programs are some of the largest of their kind. They serve both the US as well as abroad.

  • Peace Corps - The Peace Corps has plenty of volunteer positions and can take you around the world.
  • AmeriCorps*VISTA - AmeriCorps places individuals with community-based agencies to help find long-term solutions to the problems caused by urban and rural poverty. Lots of volunteer opportunities available.
  • Teach for America - Large program to help educate children. Site also has an online application.
