Summer Opportunities

Actually, most everything listed below you can do during the school year, too. However, these options are frequently done during the summer, because students simply have more time.

  • Internships - Take an internship at a company to gain experience in a field you're interested in pursuing later. Some internships pay very well, some can be done for Carleton credit, and others may require a part-time job so you can support yourself.
  • Research Opportunities - Carleton offers many opportunities for research both on campus and off campus. Check here for all options availible.
  • Working Abroad - Many students work abroad, allowing them to go to places they've always wanted to, and make some money as well! Check out our pages for all seven continents!
  • Junior Fellowships - Get paid for educational experiences the summer after your junior year! A great way to do something interesting, wild, or adventurous, and still earn money, too.

Summer jobs differ from internships in that they are usually not focused on educating you about a career field or helping you gain skilled experience. However summer jobs are:

  • A good way to gain work experience
  • Often paying
  • Sometimes fun
  • Educational in their own way
