Goals

  • Explore and investigate possible majors and career options.
  • Take responsibility for your life/career planning.
  • Learn about organizations, functional areas, and sectors of the economy in which you may be interested.

Recommended Activities

  • Attend a majors decision-making workshop. You will learn how to research your top major choices, resources for gathering information and what employers and graduate schools thing is/is not important about majors.
  • Talk with your advisor and other faculty members about majors and career options.
  • Consider a term abroad or other off-campus experience.
  • Read about several different career/life options in the Career Center resource library or online.
  • List your short-term goals.
  • Attend a resume workshop and write a first draft for your summer job.
  • Explore our internship database. Internships and real world experience are essential in today's employment market.
  • Apply early (winter break) for summer jobs or internships.
  • Attend career talks and panels by alumni.
  • Seek additional training in accounting or computer skills (spreadsheet and graphics).
