Adjunct Instructor in Sociology
I'm am from St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated as part of the Carleton class of 2011 with a degree in biology. The year I am serving as the Office of Academic Civic Engagement's Science and Higher Education Access VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) as an AmeriCorps and Minnesota Literacy Council Member.
I believe that education is critical for social change. As my title reinforces, I am passionate about higher education access for all students, the importance of scientific reasoning being taught at all grade levels, and the importance of reciprocity in educational activities.
I do my best to have as little impact on the planet as I can and a great of an impact on its people as possible. I tend to be outdoors whenever I can be: hiking, camping, climbing, general adventuring, and if I have to be indoors, I prefer to be cooking with friends, rebuilding bicycles, or reading a good book.
I'm a junior who grew up in Germany and Iowa. My major is Sociology/Anthropology, with a a concentration in Educational Studies. I'm interested in far too many things including education, art, Spanish, sustainability issues, cartwheels and spending time outdoors. In addition to working for ACE, I am a tutor for Northfield Reads and Counts and am a Program Director for WomenCircle.
I am from St.Paul, Minnesota. I am focusing on art outreach with ACE. Art has been a passion of mine for my whole life; living as a painter, sculptor, photographer, singer, and dancer. I am also involved in the Coalition of Hmong Students, tutor with America Reads and Counts, and volunteer at the Community Action Center Food Shelf.
I'm a sophomore religion major from the village of Finland, Minnesota along the Canadian South Shore. I'm interested in the aesthetics of sustainability and the subtle ways that sustainable living styles seep into our routines. At Carleton I participate with Food Truth and Engineers Without Borders. I like running, cruising, and vegetarian cooking.
