Dining Services

Dining is an integral part of residential life at Carleton and it’s expected that students will eat most of their meals in campus dining halls unless their place of residence allows for a reduced meal plan. Carleton offers flexible meal plans that give students options to eat at East Dining Hall or Burton Dining Hall, or order a la carte at the Snack Bar.

To find out what your meal plan options are, visit Meal Plan Options by Residential Location and find your residence hall or house. If your residence does not require a meal plan, it is designated "off board."

All first year students are required to participate in the 20 meal plan for fall term of their first year. They may select the 20, 12 or Block 130 meal plan for winter and spring term. Transfer students are allowed to select the 20, 12, or Block 130 plans for fall term.

Meal plans may only be used by the student whose name is on the OneCard; they are not transferable. There are no reimbursements for remaining balances at any time. Meal plans are active only when students are enrolled full time on campus.

MEAL PLAN SELECTION

If your housing assignment allows for a choice of 20 meal plan,12 meal plan or Block 130 (please see Meal Plans by Residential Location), you will automatically be assigned the 12 meal plan for all terms at Room Draw or for all subsequent terms when assigned your room after returning from an off campus program or leave of absence. Should you prefer the 20 meal plan or the Block 130, please submit a Change or Select a Meal Plan form prior to the fifth day of the term. If you will be living in a location with only one option (5 meal plan or off board),you will be assigned the plan listed (although you may opt for any of the available meal plans). Please consult The Hub at any time to verify your meal plan or ask the checker in the dining hall.

If you wish to have a meal plan other than the plan assigned, please make the change early to have your Room and Board billing reflect the correct billing amounts. We encourage you to select "All Terms" to change your meal plan for the current and all future terms. Selecting "Fall Term," "Winter Term," or "Spring Term" will change the plan for only the selected term. Selecting only one term will result in your meal plan defaulting to the 12 meal plan if residing in a 20 meal plan, Block 130, or 12 meal plan area.

The deadlines for meal plan changes is noon on the following dates:

Fall Term: forthcoming
Winter Term: forthcoming
Spring Term: forthcoming

Any forms submitted after noon the fifth day of the term will take effect the following term. Only one Change or Select a Meal Plan form will be accepted for each term.

MEAL PLANS AND ONECARD

Students must present their OneCard at Burton or East Dining Hall to authorize the use of their meal plan. Visit the OneCard website for information about this and all other uses of the OneCard. If you lose your OneCard, please report it immediately to avoid having your meals used by someone else.

EXEMPTIONS

Students who believe their special dietary requirements cannot be met by Dining Services must complete a Meal Plan Exemption Request Form. Meal plans will not be adjusted for any reason other than medical.
