Honors Convocation
HONORS CONVOCATION
The Honors Convocation is held each spring on the last Friday of spring term to recognize faculty and students for their accomplishments and their service to the community. All faculty are strongly encouraged to attend and take part in the academic procession. All departmental activities should be scheduled so they don’t conflict with the Honors Convocation.
The timeline for preparing for Honors Convo is as follows:
- January - Members of your department are being confirmed or solicited to serve on student selection committees.
- Early February - You will receive a memo asking you to identify students who have received grants/fellowships through departmental monies or grants.
All faculty receive a listing of student prizes available and who to contact. You will receive an updated Prizes and Awards Master List so you can see which of your faculty members are heading up selection committees and which prizes are available. You and your department colleagues should contact the appropriate prize coordinator to nominate students for prizes.
- Mid-April - Deadline for prize coordinator to submit names of students who have won prizes or awards to the Dean of the College Office for inclusion in the Honors Convo brochure.
- Mid-May Look for the procession line-up and class schedules in the East Laird Times, Currently@Carleton, and the Noon News Bulletin. Make plans with your department colleagues to attend Honors Convocation.
