The Work of the Subcommittees

Seven subcommittees were created at the end of January to investigate specific areas of importance and to present reports, with recommendations, to the full Committee by April 13. Each was charged to be in close contact with appropriate individuals and groups and to gather as much information as time permitted. We are deeply indebted to the people on the subcommittees for their efforts, because it is from their good work that we developed the recommendations for this report. Although it was not possible to include all of the ideas and recommendations in the subcommittee reports, we have submitted them to President Lewis as background material to be used in following through on our recommendations.
