Bosch Fellowship

Purpose: As the countries of the world become more interdependent, the Robert Bosch Foundation recognizes the importance of familiarizing American professionals and executives with the political, economic, and cultural environment of Europe in general and of the Federal Republic of Germany in particular. To further this goal, and to strengthen the ties of friendship and understanding between the United States and Germany, the Foundation is sponsoring a Fellowship Program which will enable young American professionals to participate in an intensive work and study program in Germany.

Funding: The Robert Bosch Foundation, located in Stuttgart, Germany, is one of the largest corporate foundations in Germany and was formed to further the philanthropic and social endeavors of its founder Robert Bosch (1861-1942). Established in 1964, it holds 92% of the shares of the Robert Bosch Company.

Eligibility:
Citizenship: U.S. citizen.
Age: Generally 23-34 at the time of application.
Language: German fluency required at start of program. If needed, language training will be provided by the Bosch Foundation in the U.S. and Germany as needed.
Education: Graduate degree or graduate-level training in business administration, economics, journalism/mass communications, law, political science, public affairs/public policy and at least two years of professional experience.

Selection Criteria: Candidates are competitively chosen from the fields of business administration, economics, journalism and mass communications, law, political science and public affairs/public policy. Although a prime goal of this program is the advancement of American-German/European relations, it will, in addition, contribute to the participants' professional competence and expertise, and broaden their cultural horizons. The program strives to provide young American professionals (23-34) with executive level internships in the federal government and private sectors in Germany. Seminars in Berlin, Frankfurt/M. and Munich, as well as visits to Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium and France provide a meaningful understanding of issues facing the European Union and Germany today.
