Duncan Stewart Fellow
Each Spring the Department of Geology selects Duncan Stewart Fellows from the junior and senior classes. This fellowship was established in 1976 by Daniel Gainey ’49 in honor of Duncan Stewart, professor of geology at Carleton for nearly 25 years. The principal criteria for selection are excellence in scholarship, a high level of intellectual curiosity, potential for scientific growth, a demonstrated ability to work independently, and involvement in department activities.
