Carletonian in China

The Carletonian-in-China was started in the 1930s at the Mingyi Missionary school. It served as a newsletter for the foreigners there, as well as an English-learning tool for students.

This year we have re-established the CIC, with a focus on student writing and school news; in the first edition alone we already have contributions from the teachers and students of Fenyang Senior Middle School, altering the original language as little as possible. The foreign language teachers (and occasionally their families and friends) also contribute articles, trying to write in English that is accessible for the average high school student at Fenyang Senior Middle School (albeit perhaps with the aid of a dictionary).

Special kudos go to Tricia Glab, whose persistence and perfectionism held up through four format changes and resulted in the beautiful layout you can view below.
