Carleton in China Interviews
As part of the Carleton College Oral History Program, College Archivist Eric Hillemann and others interviewed five representatives of the original Carleton in China program: John Caton, Carl Huber, Sarah Beach, Edward Rosenow, and Lucian Pye. Their stories are facinating windows into life in China in the early 20th century, particularly from the point of view of foreigners, teachers, and missionaries. Below you can find short excerpts of these interviews; for the full stories (including interview transcripts, audio files, and letters home), please contact Eric Hillemann.
