- Carleton allows for self-scheduled final exams, but open-book exams may not be self-scheduled. See "Academic Regulations and Procedures" for details. If your exam format does not allow for self-scheduling, please say so in your syllabus. Questions? Call the Registrar’s Office.
- No finals can be given on Reading Days or before the start of the examination schedule. If you’re planning a take-home final, this information must be stated on the syllabus. Take-home exams are handed out the day of the last class meeting and are due the last day of the examination period. Although the last final exam period runs until 9:40 p.m., you may require the exams be turned in by 5:00 p.m. (so they can be turned in to a person and not left outside an office).
- Keep in mind that for Winter Term there is only a two-day turn around period between the end of finals and submission of grades. The last final is on Monday night; grades are due at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Do yourself a favor and set earlier deadlines for end-of-term papers, projects, chapter tests, etc.
