Carleton College invites applications for a two-year position in the Department of Classical Languages beginning September 1, 2010. We are seeking an entry-level teacher/scholar with broad interests in all aspects of Classical antiquity. Ph.D. or its imminent completion is required. Responsibilities include teaching Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as courses in translation. Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in any one of the following: ancient religion, philosophy, art, or material culture. The teaching load is six courses per year, two in each of three terms.
Letters of application should address relevant educational and teaching experience, including a statement of teaching philosophy. Please also arrange to send us a c.v., a graduate transcript, and three letters of recommendation, at least two of which address your teaching. Send your application materials by November 15 to:
