Hope Center

Rice County has a help-line program staffed by trained advocates oncall at all times through a 24-hour telephone crisis intervention “hotline,” 800-607-2330. While Carleton students may volunteer as advocates, the help line is not run by Carleton and has no formal affiliation with the College. In response to calls to this number, the advocates offer listening support, and information referral, to people dealing with depression, suicide, sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, child abuse, and other violent crimes.

Advocates offer assistance in handling immediate survival needs; provide information about police, hospital, legal procedures, and the rights of victims; accompany victims to medical or legal appointments; and offer assistance and continued support while a victim confronts court proceedings or seeks assistance from public agencies.
