Northfield News Praises City-Neighborhood CompromiseIn a May 6 editorial titled "New Dorm Issues Handled Well by All," the Northfield News praised the compromise between Carleton and a neighborhood group that led to the city's approval of a conditional use permit for the new residence hall project. The agreement allows the College to build fewer parking spaces than city ordinances would otherwise require, which in turn saves several mature trees and additional green space at the edge of campus.  |
Sidewalk Along the North Side of the Project will be Closed in MayApril 30, 2009
Beginning Monday, May 4, the Residence Hall project fence will be expanded north to include the sidewalk on the south side of Nourse Hall. The south door to Nourse Hall will also be closed. There will be a path through the area to Evans and Cowling. The work is expected to last four weeks, so the sidewalk and Nourse entrance should be available to use June 1. We are sorry for any inconvenience. |
