Four Prius Hybrids in Fleet

November 26, 2008
By Julia H. Burmesch

The Carleton shared fleet now includes four Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid vehicles. Carleton drivers have reported gas mileage as high as 48 mpg. during recent trips. The Prius is a five-passenger vehicle with considerable storage space due to the liftback style.

First-time Prius drivers should allow extra time before their trip in order to familiarize themselves with the numerous features that make this model unique including SmartKey, power button, electronic shift mechanism and the park button.  With a little practice, these features will become second nature.  Check out the user guide for First-time Prius Users now.

A coworker and I took one of these to Springfield, Missouri for a conference this fall. It was very comfortable and roomy.

We also appreciated the auxiliary audio input in the center console – we could plug in our iPods and laptops and listen to good music the whole way.

Of course, it was also nice to go more than 400 miles on less than 10 gallons of gas!
