Books, illustrated and manually inscribed, hold a place of honor in Arabic art because of their connection to sacred teachings. Arabic Manuscripts from the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in the Gould Library, with examples from the 9^th through the 16^th centuries, demonstrates the beauty and variety of this highly refined art form. The selection of six Qu’ran pages and one leaf from a scientific treatise gives context to Dafatir: Contemporary Iraqi Book Art, the exhibition in the Art Gallery.
