Leigh Anne Langwell
Leigh Anne Langwell, award-winning New Mexico photographer, probes the “secret life of the body” by creating photograms exposing the deepest corporeal structures through transformative light. After 17 years as a medical photographer, Langwell broke away from what she saw as overly narrow meanings within diagnostic imagery. Since receiving an MFA in photography, the artist uses the photogram to “explore the body as a location where intersections of possibility and metaphor can unfold into larger terrains.” Langwell is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the University of New Mexico.
