Accidentals is a women’s a cappella group that requires a love of singing, a sense of fun, and a touch of insanity. We perform one major concert each term. Auditions are held throughout the year as necessary.

Aids and HIV Awareness strives to increase awareness about issues of sexuality in general, with specific focus on how to prevent the spread of HIV and other STDs. AHA! Sponsors trips to anonymous HIV testing sites each term and is responsible for condom distribution on campus. We also organize Carleton’s team for the Minnesota AIDS Walk.

Breaking Ground is a radical, feminist journal produced by members of the Carleton community. The purpose of Breaking Ground is to develop people’s idea’s and perspectives of gender, sex, sexuality, race, and class. We accept essays, stories, poems, and visual art, and welcome anonymous submissions.

Campus Advocates Against Sexual Harassment and Assault are an autonomous group whose purpose is to provide support to survivors and perpetrators (women or men) of sexual harassment, sexual assault. They are available 24 hours a day and offer non-judgmental listening, support, and information on resources and Carleton's policies. Email Sarojini for more information.

Coalition of Women of Color creates an environment for women on the Carleton campus that is supportive, fun and serves as a resource. COWOC will provide a sense of familiarity and extend many opportunities to further educate women and Carleton about multicultural and women’s issues.

Collective for Women’s Issues is an umbrella organization that provides avenues for community services, political action, and consciousness raising for those interested in feminist and social justice issues at Carleton. In addition, CWI serves as a personal support group for women at Carleton. Email Elizabeth and Sarah.

Girl Scout Program is an official campus Girl Scout unit associated with the Cannon Valley Girl Scout Council. Volunteers work as members of Northfield troops as well as bring Girl Scouts to the Carleton campus.

Knightingales are a bunch of whacked out chicks who love to sing a cappella music. We do three concerts every year in addition to performing for various events on and off campus. If you love singing, cookies, and fighting the forces of evil, come audition in the fall. Email Annie for more information.

Ruth's House of Hope, in partnership with Catholic Charities and a number of local organizations, has undertaken a project to make available 9 to 10 units of transitional housing explicitly for homeless women and their children. The transitional housing program will give families space and time for healing for up to two years. Volunteers may be asked to do a variety of tasks, such as supervising children or food shopping.

Woman Circle is made up of middle school girls and college women who meet once a week during the school year at Carleton and is centered around the needs and issues concerning women. It is a comfortable, fun environment that focuses on group building activities.

The HOPE Center acts as an advocate for sexual assault survivors, battered women, and abused children. Open-minded and caring volunteers are needed to answer crisis line calls, do community education at schools on violence issues, and work on numerous other projects. Email Liz for more information.
