2012 OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD

Carleton College held their 2012 Open Enrollment period from October 31, 2011 through December 5, 2011.  

This year's enrollment was again "passive", which means that your current 2011 elections for medical, dental, voluntary life, and long-term disability were implemented on your behalf for 2012 (without any interaction required from you).  Annual elections for participation in a flexible spending account (for health care and/or dependent care) was required. 

All benefit-eligible employees who wanted more information were encouraged to attend one of our informational sessions held on the dates listed below.

Monday, 11/7/11--------------------------------------------6:00-7:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 11/9/11----------------------------------------1:00-2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, 11/16/11---------------------------------------8:00-9:00 a.m.
Monday, 11/21/11-------------------------------------------12:00-1:00 p.m.

**All meetings were held in the Alumni Guest House (AGH) Meeting Room.**

Benefit-eligible employees who wished to elect a flexible spending account or to make plan changes or to add or remove dependents for 2012 needed to access the online enrollment tool (benefitsCONNECT) during the Open Enrollment period at www.benefitsconnect.net/carleton.

As a reminder for benefitsCONNECT, your user name will be the first six letters of your last name and the first letter of your first name and the last 4 numbers of your social security number. Your password is your date of birth (eight digits--month-day-year) and the last four digits of your social security number (with no dashes or spaces). Once you log-in, you will have the opportunity to change your password, should you wish.

2012 Benefit Renewal Information

We are very pleased to share that our renewal rates for 2012 are truly exceptional!  Our renewal rates for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota resulted in a decrease of approximately 1.5% to our Aware PPO plan; the Options Blue and Accord HRA plans will have an average increase of approximately 0.3%.  Our Delta Dental plans (Value and Comprehensive) will see absolutely no increase in rates for 2012!

In addition to these phenomenal renewal rates, we're also pleased to share that there are no plan design changes and very minimal BCBS mandated changes in health insurance coverage.  Additionally, there are no plan design changes for our two Delta Dental plans or our voluntary life and long-term disability plans offered through The Hartford.  There are some new features being offered by TASC, our flexible spending account vendor in 2012.
