Giancarlo "Solly" Danno
Querido everyone, my name is Giancarlo, or Solly, and I’m from Chicago. Currently I am a Junior CAMS major with an affinity for horror and Spanish cinema. And I also love music. I play electric guitar and bass, and I have played in a few bands at Carleton. I love all types of music, but especially Rock ‘n’ Roll and Blues. I am also involved in a couple clubs and groups at Carleton, such as Latin American Student Organization, IM Racquetball, and KRLX to name a few. I really look forward to see ing all of you and welcoming you to Carleton. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at dannog@carleton.edu.
What are the academics like at Carleton?
Academics at Carleton are probably everything you’ve heard about them, meaning they are hard. But don’t worry too much about it, there is always a way to finish your work. It doesn’t take too long to figure out what professors want or how that paper should be written. Though Carleton is hard academically, once you get adjusted to it, you shouldn’t have any problems. Also, don’t forget to talk to your professors if you have trouble, they actually do love to talk and help their students.
How does one manage time at Carleton?
For me, this has been relatively easy. I schedule in all my classes and mandatory meetings/ events, along with homework time, and from there I spend the rest as I please. The key is to make sure you do not overindulge in extracurricular activities and that you still leave reasonable times to do your homework (reasonable times meaning not doing homework at 3AM). I am a firm believer that everyone needs play time, and lots of it, just don’t lose site of the necessities (i.e. homework, class, FOOD, SLEEP).
