Microsoft ends support for XP in April, 2014

November 17, 2013

Microsoft is ending all support and updates for Windows XP after April 8, 2014. Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, and 8 and Office 2003 will also lose support on that date.  Microsoft and others are warning that computers running Windows XP after April 8, 2014 will be vulnerable to malware on the Internet.

At Carleton:
ITS is working to identify all college-owned computers running Windows XP before April 8, 2014.  We will be contacting those who have an XP-based computer at work, to talk about the options.

At home:
If you personally own a computer still running Windows XP, or use a VM based on Windows XP, we recommend you start planning for this end of support.
