Carleton lost connection to the Internet on Sunday, 06 May 2012, at approximately 2:40 pm. The problem was caused by a hardware failure in Northfield by Zayo, the company that provides Internet service to Carleton, St. Olaf, and other institutions. They were able to diagnose and repair the problem by about 4:10 pm, when Internet service was restored.
All Internet connections have been repaired.
We are working with another Internet service provider to have a second connection route to the Internet. Once this second connection is in place, failures like the one on Sunday shouldn't disconnect the college from the Internet.
If you have trouble connecting to the Internet, please call the ITS helpdesk at 507 222 5999. (On campus, you can call x 5999).
