NetStorage
You can use NetStorage to access the HOME, COLLAB, and COURSES servers from any computer on or off campus. The most important thing to remember is that you cannot work directly on files that are on the server. But you can download your files to your local computer, then work on them and then upload them back to the servers. Though this may seem cumbersome, it is also the safest way to work on files from a remote location.

Where to go:
- Open your internet browser (Mozilla, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.)
- In the address bar, enter http://home.its.carleton.edu
- Use your Carleton username and password to login.
- Click on the appropriate server (HOME, COLLAB, COURSES) in the left column to find your files.
How to download files from the server:
- First double-click folders within the main Netstorage window to navigate to the file you would like to edit or view.
- Select the check-box(es) to the left of the file(s) you wish to download.
- Go to the File Menu from within Netstorage and choose Download...

- This will download the file to your default download location, which is usually your Desktop.
If you selected multiple files to download, they will be downloaded as a single ZIP file. - From there you can double-click on the file on your desktop to edit or view it.
How to upload files from your desktop to the server:
- Once you finish working with a file, save it to your local computer and close the file.
- Go to the File Menu from within NetStorage and choose Upload...

- In the window that appears, click on the Browse button and then navigate to locate the file you would like to upload to the server.
- To select another file to upload, click on the + button to the right of the Browse button.
- Once you've chosen the file to be uploaded, click the Upload button to initiate the upload process.
- Depending on file size and connection speed, uploading the file may take a few seconds to a few minutes. Once the upload is complete, your NetStorage window will refresh and you should see the file on the server.
