By default, LiveBackup protects most, but not all, of your Windows workstation data. This page documents the files that are not protected by LiveBackup.

LiveBackup uses the following general categories for "discardable" data:

Internal discardable data - defined by the vendor. As of this writing, this includes:

• LiveBackup cache folder (typically "C:\LiveBackup Cache")
• *.RBSRS - LiveBackup temporary files
• Applog directory (C:\WINDOWS\APPLOG)
• Windows print spooler (*\SPOOL\PRINTERS\*)
• Windows icon cache (C:\WINDOWS\SHELLICONCACHE)
• Windows font cache (C:\WINDOWS\TTFCACHE)
• Windows 9x swap file (*.SWP)
• Windows NT swap file (*:\PAGEFILE.SYS)
• *:\HIBERFIL.SYS
• *\COM+.LOG
• *\SCHEDLGU.TXT
• *\SYSTEM32\IAS\DNARY.LDB
• *_LB_*.TMP
• Terminal Services Client Cache (*\MICROSOFT\TERMINAL SERVER CLIENT\CACHE\*)
• Registry log files, including:

  • C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SAM.LOG

Local temporary directories - defined by the vendor. As of this writing, this includes:

• %TMP%\*
• *:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\*\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMP\*
• Directories similar to above for foreign language versions of Windows

Recycle bin directories - defined by the vendor. As of this writing, this includes:

• *:\NPROTECT\*
• *:\RECYCLE\*
• *:\RECYCLED\*
• *:\RECYCLER\*

Temporary download directories - defined by the vendor. As of this writing, this includes:

• *:\MSDOWNLD.TMP\*
• C:\WINDOWS\MSDOWNLD.TMP\*

Temporary Internet directories - defined by the vendor. As of this writing, this includes:

• *\NETSCAPE\*\CACHE\*
• *\MOZILLA\PROFILES\*\*.SLT\CACHE\*
• *\MOZILLA\PROFILES\*\*.SLT\CACHE.TRASH\*
• *\MOZILLA\FIREFOX\PROFILES\*.*\CACHE\*
• *\OPERA\*\PROFILE\CACHE4\*
• *\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES\*
