Troubleshooting

If a printer is malfunctioning, the front panel display will show error messages or fault codes according to the specific cause.

In order to get accurate information, identify the model number of your printer. The model number is located right underneath the front panel display.

Next, note the exact message text or number that is displayed. Type the text or code in the search box in the pages linked below.

*If the display is turned off or unreadable, first look for a power save button near the front panel display. If the device is not in power save mode, check if everything is plugged in and try power cycling (off, wait, on) the WorkCentre once. The printer will NOT lose any queued printing jobs.

The following links will jump to a Xerox troubleshooting page for each printer (example screenshot is below). Type your error code in the box shown, in order to get appropriate solutions.

The error messages and fault codes are also listed in the last pages of the User Guides.  See the documents linked in the upper right side of this page for an explanation of the error codes.

If you still need help after looking up the codes, please contact Rapid Response.  Send email to: rapidresponse@carleton.edu or call x5999.  (Students, please contact the SCIC, x4040.)
