Carol E. Eyler, Head of Technical Services, and Nat Wilson, Digital Archivist, participated on a panel at the Upper Midwest CONTENTdm User Group Meeting on November 14, 2011. The panel was titled "From Dream to Deployment: Using CONTENTdm as an Institutional Repository." Nat spoke on Carleton's new IR for faculty and staff articles. Carol discussed the origin and current status of Carleton's digital archive of student work -- comps, honors papers and prize-winning works.

Carol E. Eyler, Head of Technical Services, participated with St. Olaf library colleagues in a panel presentation at the Minnesota Innovative Users Group conference on October 18, 2011. The presentation title was "The Open Source Solution: Choosing and Implementing the VuFind Discovery Tool with Millennium."

Iris's invited essay, Alice in Libraryland was published on the SLA's Future Ready 365 site today. The essay discusses ebook usage policies.

Heather Tompkins, Danya Leebaw, and Iris Jastram present "Rubrics, Research Practices, and Student Writing" at the 2011 State Your Case Symposium drawing from the Gould Library Reference & Instruction department's work on their Information Literacy in Student Writing project.

Kristin Partlo and Ann Zawistoski contributed their paper, "Library Confidential: Boundaries and Benefits of Demystifying Student Appointments for Faculty" to ACRL 2011.  Kristin presented the paper at the ACRL 2011 conference on Friday, April 1, 2011.

Kristin's article, "The Pedagogical Data Reference Interview" is now available in a double issue of the IASSIST Quarterly, volume 33 (number 4, 2009) and volume 34 (number 1,2010)...

Speakers: Heather Tompkins, Margaret Pezalla-Granlund, Library Director Sam Demas, and David Silver, associate professor of Media Studies and Environmental Studies at the University of San Francisco.

Iris was invited to write an essay for ACRLog. She wrote The Age of Big Access, which has been called "Some of the best writing I’ve ever seen on the access crisis" by Dorothea Salo.
