Danya Leebaw, Kristin Partlo, and Heather Tompkins presented their paper, “'How is this different from critical thinking?': The risks and rewards of deepening faculty involvement in an information literacy rubric" at the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) 2013 conference in Indianapolis.

Carol E. Eyler, Head of Technical Services, gave a presentation titled, "Yes, We Can!: Adding Campus Collections to Millennium & Our OPACs," at the Minnesota Innovative Users Group (MnIUG) meeting at St. Olaf College on October 23. She discussed the ways in which library staff have worked with Carleton's Music Department, LTC, GSC, and Career Center to add their collections of library-like materials to the Bridge library catalog.

Danya Leebaw and Heather Tompkins presented as part of a panel at the Minnesota Library Association 2012 Annual Conference. Their presentation, entitled "What a Queer Idea: LGBT Resources for Your Library," addressed working with undergraduates researching LGBT topics. They suggested mainstream free or inexpensive resources available to study LGBT questions, and discussed some of the issues inherent in using mainstream resources to research marginalized groups.

Charles F. Priore, Jr has been named editor of the two volume series entitled: The art of the gun : selections from the Robert M. Lee collection / Robert M. Lee and R.L. Wilson ('61),Yellowstone Press 2012. This two volume set is the most elaborate book ever published on antique Colt firearms.

Danya Leebaw, Matt Ryan, Christina Sinkler-Miller, Nat Wilson, and Ann Zawistoski joined colleagues from St. Olaf, Kathy Blough, Brian Conlan, Sarah Johnston, and Kasia Gonnerman, to host the workshop "Improving Library Resource Discovery: Exploring the Possibilities of VuFind and Web Scale Discovery in a Consortial Environment" at the Library Technology Conference in St. Paul at Macalester College on March 15, 2012. They led a discussion on the selection and implementation of the library's new open source catalog overlay, investigation of web scale discovery, and resources and ideas for libraries considering these technologies for their campuses.

Kristin Partlo joined colleagues Heidi Eyestone, curator of the visual resources collection, Department of Art and Art History, and Paula Lackie, academic technologist, to present an LTC lunch session called "Organizing for Creativity" ...

Carol E. Eyler, Head of Technical Services, and Ann Zawistoski, Interim Head of Reference & Instruction, presented "Sprucing Up Bridge with New Portals & a VuFind Catalog Overlay," a brief talk and demonstration for Northfield library staff on December 21, 2011.

Charles F. Priore, Jr. has published two chapters entitled: "Locating and Using the Biological Literature" and "Documenting the Paper" in the 5th edition of Victoria E. McMillan's, Writing Papers in the Biological Sciences, Bedford/St. Martins Press 2011.

Iris Jastram, Danya Leebaw, and Heather Tompkins published "CSI(L) Carleton: Forensic Librarians and Reflective Practices" in In the Library With the Lead Pipe (a peer reviewed publication in blog format). This essay draws on the Reference & Instruction Department's work with the Information Literacy in Student Writing project, focusing on how the project has changed our teaching.

Kristin Partlo and Iris Jastram presented as part of a panel during the "Marshaling Resources and Scaffolding Skills for Comps" faculty development workshop sponsored by WAC and QuIRK. They talked about the library's support of comps in terms of services, statistics, and learning goals.
