Elections, Politics & Policy
- Elections 2004 UMich Documents Center's quadrennial web venture provides complete political biographies, voting records, campaign finance information, polling numbers, and links to presidential candidates' web sites. Also: advice on how to run for office, links to the 9/11 Commission hearings, projected federal budget deficit, No Child Left Behind Act, and Congressional debates prior to the Iraq War. Plus there are the usual academic research tools: National Election Surveys, spreadsheets of previous presidential and congressional elections (campus-licensed), and Boolean protocols for political science journal indexes.
- Moving Ideas (formerly the Electronic Policy Network) Sponsored by The American Prospect magazine, this site includes public policy information and links from a variety of sources, particularly involving issues of economics & politics, welfare & families, education, civic participation, health policy, and media. Also includes links to the various member organizations, foundations and other supporting groups.
- Political Resources on the Net "Listings of political sites available on the Internet sorted by country, with links to Parties, Organizations, Governments, Media and more from all around the world." Also includes links to international political parties and organizations, as well as European Union groups.
- Statistical Resources on the Web -- Political Science (University of Michigan) Contains extensive data and annotated links concerning campaign finance, elections, military, public opinion, and other related topics. An excellent source of statistical data.
- Voting & Democracy Virtual Library (NYU) This site provides a listing of links concerning elections and politics, human rights and free elections, voter education and government oversight, proportional representation, and national political parties.
- Campaigns & Elections (Columbia University) While some of the information included in this detailed site is specific to Columbia University, much of the information is web-based and useful for any audience. Includes an extensive listing of links with annotations pertaining to political parties, campaign resources and finances, congressional voting records, election results, media and politics, and political polling resources.
- National Election Studies (University of Michigan) This research organization collects and disseminates data on voting, public opinion, and political participation. Includes information on various voting studies, data, electoral systems, and other resources.
- Elections & Electoral Systems Around the World An extensive list of annotated links pertaining to elections and electoral systems generally, and a country by country listing of relevant links as well.
- Project Vote Smart Includes performance evaluations, voting records, issue positions, campaign finances, and biographies for candidates and elected officials at both the federal and state levels. Also contains CongressTrack, a service for tracking current legislation and accessing legislative texts and the Congressional Record.
- FECInfo Provides access to Federal Election Commission data since 1980. Includes downloadable access to soft money databases, PAC information and contributions, information about contributors, and other data about campaign finances.
