The Chronicle of Higher Education at Your Desktop

January 3, 2008
By Heather Tompkins

Carleton has full access to the Chronicle of Higher Education Online! From on campus, access the Chronicle at http://chronicle.com. If you're off-campus, use the url http://chronicle.com.ezproxy.carleton.edu/ You'll be prompted to log in. Use your Carleton network ID and password.  Note that access is only available for students, staff and faculty, not alumni.

If you would like to get the Chronicle sent to you automatically, there are now two ways to do so: as an email newsletter or as a news feed. Subscribe to have the current issue sent to your email by clicking the box labeled "sign up now for chronicle email alerts" on the front page. Create a personal account (please create a password different than what you use at Carleton) and select the newsletters you want to receive. Academe Today is the table of contents for the current daily issue. If you'd prefer to get weekly updates select Academe this Week.

Don't want to clutter your inbox? Use a feed reader or news aggregator, like Google Reader, Bloglines to subscribe to the RSS feed available from the Daily News Blog page. Select the feed for Chronicle News. Or, you can also select the feed for the Chronicle news blog, which pulls together news found on the web that may be of interest to those reading the Chronicle. If you want to know more about RSS feeds, ask an academic technologist or reference librarian.
