Carleton College Board of Trustees Names Steven G. Poskanzer Next President
April 23, 2010 at 11:45 amThe Carleton College Board of Trustees has named Steven G. Poskanzer, J.D., as its next President of the College. Currently the president at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz, Poskanzer, 51, will assume his duties as Carleton’s 11th president on August 2, 2010. He replaces Robert A. Oden Jr., who announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2010, this past September.

Press Release: Carleton President Robert A. Oden Jr. Announces Retirement, Effective June 2010

Oden Jr., 63, Carleton College president since 2002 and a leader of educational institutions for more than 20 years, has announced his retirement effective June 2010, the end of the current academic year. “I’ve personally informed all Carleton Trustees to tell them of my plan to retire at the conclusion of the current academic year,” Oden said. “My wife, Teresa, and I have devoted a great many hours to considering this decision over recent months and reached the conclusion that the time to retire is this coming June.
