About the Club
The Karate Club offers instruction in traditional Japanese Karate to the Carleton student body. The aim of Karate is the perfection of the practitioner's character, achieved through intensive physical training and mental discipline. The Karate Club is closely tied to the karate PE class, which meets twice a week to train under Michael Fusaro, a fourth Dan or his brother, Darrell a third Dan. There are also more relaxed practices on most Saturdays taught by the class's advanced students. The Shotokan form of karate, which the Carleton club practises, concentrates on perfection of the basics and katas. Karate is active all year around. Everyone from beginners to experts are welcome.
