CHEM 259: Molecular Visualizations

Students will learn to use molecular visualization tools to examine 3D molecular structures and create visual images. Each student will create and perfect one visualization designed to guide others through a structurally significant concept.  We will primarily use the web-based tool JSmol and will access the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Base as well as the Protein Data Base. Guest lectures will be given by Rou-Jia Sung (Biology) and Joe Chihade (Chemistry) to highlight other visualization techniques. Prerequisite: Chemistry 234 or Biology 126
